MATCH REPORT | Loss on the road to Real Betis for Valencia CF
Valencia CF fell to a 3-0 defeat against Real Betis on Matchday 8 of LaLiga EA Sports season, at the Benito Villamarín. After an even first half, the home team made the difference with two goals from set pieces and scored a third in the final minutes.
Valencia CF enjoyed the first chance of the match, as both teams tried to bring the ball upfield quickly. Rubén Baraja's men came out intensely with a good recovery and Fran Pérez, from the edge of the area, struck a left footed shot that went slightly over the crossbar.
The home team would step on the accelerator in the following minutes, in a stretch in which they put in several crosses to try to disturb Giorgi Mamardashvili. Baraja asked the Valencia CF players to redouble the pressure, increase the intensity on the wings and reduce the spaces.
However, Real Betis would open the scoring a few minutes before the halftime break, off in a set piece action that fell to Diao to score from close range.

Baraja brought on attacking players like Diego López and Hugo Duro for the second half, but it would be Real Betis who would strike again.
A shot from outside the area by Isco was parried onto the post by Mamardashvili, and from the resulting corner Marc Roca headed home to make it 2-0.
With 5 minutes remaining, Ez Abde would score to make it 3-0, taking advantage of Valencia CF pushing players forward to catch them on the break.

Valencia CF will seek to return to winning ways next Saturday against RCD Mallorca.
